Tom Lang is a Canadian multi-instrumentalist and songwriter who wants to someday write the best song ever. By day he works at “the world’s funnest day job” at TC-Helicon bringing better live vocal production to singers. The rest of the time Tom is stretching towards his songwriting goal by writing, recording, rewriting and playing the instruments on new tunes for the world. His style is informed by equal parts rock, funk and blues with a touch of country. Lyrics go beyond the typical and explore themes of self awareness, racism and of course the many ways to express love. Brentwood Bay’s Music in the Park series closed with Tom and his band playing a selection of songs from both his Waiting for the Big One and Super Sonic CDs. The weather was warm, the crowd was groovin’ and the band rocked.
Tom Lang has entertained audiences around the world with his exciting guitar playing and soulful singing. Stints as hired guitarslinger for Australia’s Jimmy Barnes, Divinyls, and demonstrator for vocal products company TC-Helicon have brought delight to thousands. Victoria, BC’s Acousticats drew a rabid fan group during their 8+ year tenure at Bartholomews and the during the last 5 years he’s played solo acoustic shows at the Westin Bear Mountain, as well as intimate weddings and parties.
Tom’s repertoire consists of crowd pleasing Beatles, Eric Clapton, Van Morrison and Eagles tunes with cameos from John Mayer, Paul Simon and Bruce Hornsby among others. His use of subtle technology to enhance but never overpower his performances produces a professional sounding, cool and upbeat vibe in any venue.
